What is NICAS/NIBAS

NICAS - National Indoor Climbing Award Scheme

NIBAS - National Indoor Bouldering Award Scheme

Both schemes are nationally recognised achievements, providing a structured progression for complete novices through to experienced climbers and boulderers. The Scheme focuses on introducing new and young climbers to artificial climbing walls, in a series of five award levels.. The Scheme is administered by the Association of British Climbing Walls Training Trust (ABCTT), recognised by the Association of British Climbing Walls, by Mountain Training and supported by the National Mountaineering Councils.

The Scheme aims to accredit individual achievement and promote good practice, structure and deeper knowledge. The Scheme focuses on skills, knowledge and safety through logged experience. Emphasis is on developing progression not graded performance. Participants must be a minimum of 7 years old but there is no upper limit.

We run both NICAS and NIBAS in six week blocks. Our next period starts from the 26th July! The total is £67.50 (£60 for six sessions and £7.50 for a logbook). All gear hire is included. We also have A5 Binders to keep your logbook in at a cost of £5.

NICAS is a progressive system through levels which encourages children to never stop improving. Currently, we run different levels concurrently. We always have multiple instructors on our sessions which ensure that the instruction suits the NICAS/NIBAS level.
